  • Any Ideas for Buying a Vehicle

    February 8th, 2010

I now need to get rid of my 2001 Suzuki Jimny (valued at approx $6K) as the existing one is, at the moment, too small (3 adults, 1 child and twins expected soon).

I have to express that I have been pleased with the car, I'm not a pedal burner and the vehicle struggles to touch 110 kph but that's okay; I am, in actual fact, simply selling as its dimension is extremely small for our existent lifestyle.

I'm wide open to vehicles which take these points into account:
    a) larger
    b) similar minimal emission
    c) advantageous on small trips (because that's what we largely do)
    d) proficient on mileage

I would really be looking ahead to getting my different car, only it should not be too costly, nevertheless be a vehicle that I could depend on, besides being one that is uncomplicated to keep in good condition.

In the end, if the car which I speak of has served you properly but you specifically must replace it for a car that is SLIGHTLY larger, in that case which one would you go for? I am fond of the appearance of the Subaru Outbacks. However I believe it would be tough to stumble on one within that price range. SUVs would be practical for our family because we have our home in the Andes and a small number of off road trails exist, although it's not mandatory for the car to be a 4×4.

While I wait I think I will simply hold on propelling a hire car

    Thanks for all suggestions.

  • A Different SUV for my Dad

    January 29th, 2010

My dad just returned his Toyota 4Runner and is on the lookout to charter a new one. He previously articulated that this drive was not very kind on his back and also that the engine capacity was more than he wanted… So he's on the lookout for a 4 cylinder or a small 6, and it has to be Offroader given that he enjoys surfing, etc… + this is the solitary big car in the house, I drove his car quite a few times to transport possessions all over the place as I drive a Honda Accord and my partner a Scion Xa.

Anyhow, the price range; it's definitely below US $30k after taxes and fees.

He did like the Mazda CX7, but it does not have a sufficient amount bite, the Turbo variant has admirable muscle and handles well, but for that much he opines he could do better.

He chanced upon a fantastic deal at turbocharged 4-cylinder engine 200-hp 2.0-liter Volkswagen Passat … but he has a dependability concern in view of the fact that our Audi Q7 and VW Beetle were constantly breaking down. I told him that through a 24-month lease he shouldn't face any difficulties (in contrast to driving the Jeep Wrangler like he had for around 6 years).

We also looked at the recent Chevrolet Equinox, a pretty darn enjoyable vehicle, you could smell superiority all over if you are to explore this vehicle… My father also said that he would have purchased the SUV before now if not for the overly irritating salesperson… I think inculing taxes it gets to $30k or so, although he seems to like the SUV very much.

He used the Toyota Highlander (4 cylinders) and was of the opinion that it feels like crap… I could not check that one, however he does look to be confident that his new car will not be a Toyota.

If you are aware of any agreeable drives that he could think about while not having to shell out a ridiculous amount of money, your suggestions are more than welcome.
